Thanks for your follow up on this pivotal consulting work by McKinsey. Glad to hear we’re making some progress and that we’re still monitoring our performance with a mindset of continuous improvement.

Wayne- thanks for sharing the results/progress of the Fall survey. I am not surprized by them. The results reported in this blog align with what I would have suspected. Thanks for sharing, and thanks for keeping the communication flowing as forward progress is being made.

The first two goals, service to local councils and promoting the brand, seem to have been well executed by the National Office. Brand promotion and the new branding campaign in general have be well received, and the National Office has done an excellent job providing materials to local councils. Also, the few times I’ve needed technical support, the National Office has always had somebody to talk to who could help me solve my problems.

Rome wasn’t built in a day. It’s good to know that even though it would appear progress has been made the BSA will not rest on its laurels and will continue monitoring and evaluating. For the time being, though, I’ll hold my pompoms at parade rest while we continue working on tearing down those silos. Thanks for sharing the results.

    Wayne,
Awesome update. It was very effective at clarifying exactly where we are with the recent changes, as well as listing specific areas where we can look for additional improvements.
    Appreciate it very much.

  • Kay Borkowski

Thanks Wayne, great update. As an employee and volunteer I see where the changes could be and the assessment was spot on. I am pleased to be a part of the of the improvements.

Thanks for the update and I am glad to see that we are continuing to improve rather than stop after making a few changes. I am pleased with the improvements we have made to date. I only have one real complaint at this time and it has to do with information sharing. I continuously get updates from volunteers that have found out about new programs coming out, or training changes, etc. and I have no idea. Then it will come out to me a week or two later by email or in the buzz. I think we should have a weekly “update” email to everyone that tells us what is coming out soon.

Michael, it would very helpful if you sent me a note at the time this happens. This would give me somehing concrete to trace down to see where the breakdown is in our procedures.

  • Joe Daniszewski

Wayne, another great episode. I am encouraged by the results of the survey. Change does not come easy … I am very pleased with the path we are on!

    Wayne,
Thanks for the update and for listening to us on the council level. It was heartening to hear that you are truly taking these surveys to heart Even more so is that our organization is making real and effective change to better ourselves so that we can grow our great movement. Look forward to seeing what new things the national council has in store to better help our units, scouts, volunteers, and council employees. Keep up the good work and keep asking for our feedback.

Thank you for providing the feedback on the survey we took. So many times the perception is that surveys end up in some desk drawer somewhere and the data is never used. The people who were asked for the input rarely find out the results, let alone how the information will be used. I feel like the national leadership team is making real efforts in didactic communication with the field.
