Experience the Jamboree Firsthand

In this episode, I address a few of the questions I receive about the rapidly approaching 2013 National Scout Jamboree: Will the Summit be ready by next summer? Is it too late to register? What if my council’s contingent is already full? To hear the answers–and to submit a few questions of your own about the jamboree–tune in, and then use the comments feature below the video window.

  1. In Central Florida we have filled 7 Troops and 1 Venture Crew for the 2013 Jamboree. The key to our success is promotion and more promotion. In filling the Troops and Crew the best type of promotion has been by empowering our youth to spread the word about the exciting adventures that Jamboree 2013 has in store for all participants.

  2. Wayne,

First, We appreciate your leadership! Second, being my first oppurtunity to serve as a Staff member for the Jamborie, Will I have a specific duty or are we floaters thru out the Summit.

    • Jason,
Review the listing of staff positions under the Staff Registration tab to choose where you would like to serve. You will have just one specific duty while here.

  3. I would love the opportunity to join staff for the jamboree of the new site. As a child my parents couldn’t afford to let me go. I’m currently a Scout Store Manager for the Northeast Illinois Council. I know that if I had the chance to do this under the national level it would give me great opportunities like you had mentioned.

Because I’m on the forefront of my store the parents are asking questions that you’ve answered in your video. However they are also asking about uniforming and gear to bring. If I could get my hands on that list for my customers that would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for all the hard work your putting out and handling the change over so well. I look forward to the great ideas you have and innovations you’ll put forth for us in the coming years.

    • Mark,

  4. Wayne, your timing is perfect. I just received a call from the leadership of the Presbyterian Church (USA), the largest of the Presbyterian and Reformed denominations that charter units. I was informed that due to their “Triennium” (their denominational youth gathering held every three years) they have decided not to send either youth or adult leaders to support their exhibit at the Jamboree. The Triennium falls during the same period as the Jamboree.

Therefore, I am looking for folks who want to work in Religious Relationships Exhibits (not necessarily Presbyterians) to help with the Presbyterian/Reformed Exhibit. It is a great place to learn about how our chartering organizations work with us in providing the Scouting program to our nation’s youth.

To get on the Chartered Organization Exhibits staff, the applicant needs to give the leaders of the exhibit a heads up that they are applying so that the chartered organization can list the potential staff member as an approved applicant for the particular group. In this case, the applicant can either go to the website or facebook site for the National Association of Presbyterian Scouters to find contact information. The window of opportunity is short. Applicants should act now.

This Jamboree will be a life-changing experience!
